Hopefully, some of you are reading this post after seeing my recent announcement about JEWAL. Although the website and the company have been around (in some form or another) for a few months, I consider September to be the official launch of the company.
The last few months, while a great deal of foundational work took place, networking, logistics, some marketing, a lot of administrative, I deliberately knew I didn’t want to go ‘full bore’ until the fall. Why? Family, is the simple answer.
For almost 30 years, I’ve worked (not unlike many of you), 48-50 weeks of the year, and anywhere from 40-75 hours/week, always trying my best to keep a balance between family and job (the infamous work-life balance). After leaving Dynacare, with the timing as it was, I knew this was the perfect opportunity to enjoy an extended break without any external pressures and to spend time with my wife and kids. It was fantastic! From day trips around the province, to seeing Chicago for the 1st time (and yes, I am now a huge fan of Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza), to soccer trips here, there and everywhere, swimming in lakes and pools, and just soaking in the sun, maybe with an odd beverage or 2, it’s been a great 3 months.
Now I turn the corner. With energy and momentum that could rival those half my age (OK, maybe I exaggerate a bit here) :). But you know what I mean. Time is one of the most important elements that we have very little control over, but can do so much with.
Enjoy the Autumn season, everyone.
